Teacher of Business Studies and Economics, for September 2010

We would like to appoint a well-qualified teacher to this main scale post within our successful department.   Results at Matthew Arnold School have improved considerably over the past few years and in 2009 70% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths.  We are committed to ensuring the best education we can for every student, leading to his or her individual success.

Matthew Arnold School was described by OfSTED as “a good school with an outstanding sixth form” (February 2008).  This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to build on our success.

We are committed to staff development and all teachers receive a full induction programme; we have a particular strength in supporting NQTs.  As the school continues to flourish, your contribution and commitment will be part of that future.

If you would like an informal conversation about the post then please telephone the head’s PA, Rhiannon Astill, who will put you in touch with the Curriculum Leader.  For an application form and further details please contact Mrs Astill or visit our website at www.matthew-arnold.oxon.sch.uk.  The closing date for applications is 22 March 2010. Interviews will be held in the week commencing 29 March 2010.

We are:

  • A good, inclusive school with outstanding sixth form provision (OfSTED February 2008)
  • A successful and popular High Performing Specialist School with Science and Mathematics as our specialist subjects
  • Committed to the continued professional development of all staff
  • Committed to success for all our students

In this post you will:

  • Join a highly skilled, hardworking, successful Business Studies team
  • Be part of a forward thinking organisation
  • Work with a committed staff within a supportive learning environment
  • Be given opportunities to develop personally and professionally

Matthew Arnold School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  An enhanced CRB check is required for the successful applicant.
